Situated between Madinah and Badr, this sacred well is believed to have special blessings (barakah) in its water, and it is said to bring shifa to those who drink from it. Some notable aspects related to the Well of Rawha are 1. Masjid at Rawha- It is reported that 70 Prophets prayed Salah in the Masjid at Rawha. 2. Hill of Rawha- It is narrated that 70 Prophets passed the hill of Rawha on their way to the Kabah. It has also been narrated that Prophet Esa will pass the well of Rawha and drink from it when he descends back to earth. (Hadith, Muslim) The Well of Shifa holds a significant place in Islamic history. Originally, the well was dug to assist Muslim pilgrims who embarked on their Hajj and Umrah journeys and required water along the way. However, the water from this well was bitter and salty. According to historical accounts, the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) learned about the waters bitterness and unhealthy nature. In an act of divine intervention, he placed his blessed saliva into the well. As a result, the water transformed from bitter to sweet by the permission of Allah SWT. The Well of Zamzam is said to be a miracle of Allah SWT for Prophet Ibraheem and his son Ismail. Rainwater is a blessing and mercy from Allah SWT. Hadhrat Anas (RA) reports that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went into the rain, opened his chest or any part of his body and let the rain fall on his body. Upon enquiry, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: Indeed it (the rain) has just recently come from my Lord. [i.e. it is, therefore, a source of blessing.] (Sahih Muslim Hadith: 2080)
